Help end LGBTQ+ youth homelessness

About our cause
akt is the only national charity dedicated to providing support for LGBTQ+ young people who are either at risk of homelessness or currently experiencing it. Shockingly, statistics reveal that 24% of homeless individuals aged 16-25 identify as LGBTQ+.
Unlike their heterosexual or cisgender counterparts, LGBTQ+ individuals often find themselves homeless precisely because of their identity, making them vulnerable to precarious housing situations.
Our mission is clear: to offer essential services that cater to the specific needs of LGBTQ+ youth, ranging from housing advice to mental health support and financial guidance.
akt continues to see more demand for their services than they can supply. In London, over one in four new cases must be signposted elsewhere because the service is at capacity. For our digital service, that number is one in five.
No one should have to choose between a safe home and being who they are.
