About our cause
LGBT+ NETWORK FOR CHANGE provides a much loved and valued service for the community.
We need your help so we can continue to offer and even expand our service!
The network initiates and develops lobbying and educational information campaigns to influence and effect changes in, for example, NHS understanding about and interaction with its LGB&T service users.
We listen to community members, including seldom heard and vulnerable LGB&T groups to influence and bring about change in services provided by local authorities and public service organisations. Commonly in the areas we work in, inclusion and combating prejudice issues and needs (including those of public service and local government organisations and their specific departments) exist that are otherwise not covered by other organisations, and yet impact seriously and negatively on the lives of many of our communities members.
As a result of the network’s existence and the support it provides to the pan-Dorset LGB&T Health Advisory Group, Bournemouth Hospital is publicly promoting awareness to staff, patients and visitors that it operates a zero tolerance policy concerning homophobic and transphobic behaviour. The network is also developing in conjunction with Royal Bournemouth Hospital, two staff training videos to profile our LGB and our Trans communities needs and commonly encountered issues in accessing NHS healthcare.
The LGBT+ Network for Change has enabled and leads a number of Initiatives. For these we have developed thematic, comprehensive educational material/resources at the request of the collaborative partners (such as HMPPS, NHS mental healthcare trusts, FE colleges).
These educational resources are used for training provided by the Network, and for the relevant organisations intranet and EDI (Equality Diversity Inclusion) and CPD (Continuing Professional Development), and at need guidance and support on given incidents or cases. These information resources are used for both staff/service providers, and clients/service users of the latter, benefits.
A part of these educational resources includes recommended external signposting; here in this page we provide some of the links included in the latter. The Information resources below, selected for their educational or quality of life enhancing value, are provided for and/or of interest to:
LGBT+ and LGBTQ+ individuals & communities
The general public, businesses and employers, for educational and anti homophobic and anti trans-phobic information and awareness purposes
Public service organisations, local authorities, and for education institutions, and voluntary sector groups and organisations

These include from our original area of operation (Dorset and the Bournemouth & Poole conurbation: for these for example please see Useful Links and the links immediately below), to national and international level ones.
