About our cause
Stonewall Housing is the leading national charity supporting LGBTQ+ people of all ages who live in the UK and are experiencing homelessness or living in an unsafe environment.
Founded in 1983, we provide specialist housing advice, advocacy and support for LGBTQ+ people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We have specialisms in Mental Health, Domestic Abuse and Supported Accommodation.
We currently work with more than 3200 people every year, and we’re seeing a significant increase in demand for our services.
Key stats:
· Since 1983, Stonewall Housing has helped over 40,000 marginalised and vulnerable LGBTQ+ people.
· Over the last year, we supported 3200 LGBTQ+ people across the UK.
· 97% of our service users told us it’s important to them that their caseworker understands what it’s like to be LGBTQ+.
· Approximately 1/3 of our clients have previously experienced some form of abuse, in addition to insecure housing.
· Over 50% of Stonewall Housing’s service users are from ethnically diverse backgrounds.
