About our cause
We are Switchboard, the national LGBTQIA+ Support Line.
We are one of the UK’s longest-running, volunteer-led charities serving the LGBTQIA+ communities. On average we handle approximately 15,000 conversations a year across phone, instant message and email.
While Switchboard was established in 1974 to provide vital signposting and information to LGBTQIA+ communities, we are a service open to all. We talk to people from all across the UK, who wish to discuss issues ranging from sexuality, gender identity, mental and sexual health, isolation and more.
We're here to listen and support people to make informed decisions for themselves. Every conversation is unique, and Switchboard takes pride in responding to the changing needs of our communities by providing a service that’s continually evolving and relevant.
Switchboard has been here since the first days of the AIDS crisis. And we’re still here now.
Your entry to The Rainbow Lottery in support of Switchboard means that we will continue to ensure that no contact goes unanswered.
Thank you for your support and good luck!
